5.0 out of 5 stars sleek and elegant design, January 6, 2007

sleek and elegant design

the picture doesn't do it justice, the stainless steel is highly polished and the mother of pearl face gives off beautiful colors in changing lighting.

the band is comfortable, easily adjusted and the clasp is very sturdy.

the crystal is very clear and the face is easy to read, there is no second hand though, if that concerns you.

it's very thin and light weight as far as size, a nickel perfectly covers the crystal and a quarter will cover the entire body including the knob, so if you put a nickel on top of a quarter you can get an idea of the size and the thickness of the entire watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars easy to read plus elegant design, October 31, 2007

This review is from: Skagen Women's 233XSSS Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
This is my fifth Skagen watch. (I wear all of them on different occasions.) I love the clean Danish design and the comfort and durability of all of my Skagen watches. I bought this one because I can read the time more easily than on my small dress watch and more exactly than on my watches without 12 hour-markers. Skagen makes women's watches with large dials and others with very small ones. There aren't many in between. This one is small enough to look good on my small wrist but large enough to read easily. And did I say I love the combination of the silver hands and markers with the glimmery mother-of-pearl face? Very classy and elegant.

4.0 out of 5 stars Graceful and functional, March 3, 2008

This review is from: Skagen Women's 233XSSS Stainless Steel Watch (Watch)
This is the third Skagen watch I've owned. I wear my watch as my only piece of "jewelry" at work, this is often workplace requirement for me, yet no matter how grubby I feel and look, the Skagen watch is elegant and makes me feel attractive, without being flashy. Mother of pearl face is subtle, doesn't show up well in this photo, but is very pretty.

The mesh wristband is great. It doesn't ever get sweaty and sticky on my skin like leather watch bands.

I wish this model had a second hand. Also, be careful about getting the watch wet. Like most "water resistant" watches, it is okay to get a splash of water or rain on it, but I wouldn't recommend submerging it in water. This is not a real "heavy duty" watch, serves my purposes in helthcare, but would be careful about wearing it while doing any intense outdooer work. Wristband adjustment can be a little tough. Could be my problem, and I prefer adjusting myself instead of taking it to a jeweler to get links... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Watch, Excellent Vendor Service, August 4, 2008

This review is from: Bulova Men's 98C62 Marine Star Watch (Watch)
I purchased this watch after rather exhaustively reviewing the many, many offerings at Amazon.com. When it first arrived, I found myself vaguely let down. Somehow, it didn't seem quite as striking as in the photos. But as the weeks have gone by, my opinion has completely turned around on that. This watch is really very beautiful, and the numerous compliments I've now received serve as confirmation. It also appears to be extremely accurate and, contrary to some other reviews, setting it (including day and date) was not at all difficult. Do remember that it has a screw-down crown; you need to unscrew it before actually pulling out the stem. That is NOT explained, at all, in the (very inadequate) instruction manual.

Is this equal to an Omega automatic diver's watch, which has a similar appearance? I'm sure it's not. But, then, it only costs about 1/10th as much. It very likely equals or exceeds similar Invictas as well as any similar Citizen or Seiko watch.

I've not... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Value with a Few Rough Edges, September 9, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Bulova Men's 98C62 Marine Star Watch (Watch)
The Bulova 98C62 Marine Star watch is diver's style quartz/electronic watch rated water resistant to 200 meters. It has a blue face with large, luminous hour and minute hands, a red-tipped second hand and a day/date feature. The dial itself has large luminous dashes at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions, an inverted luminous triangle at the 12 o'clock position and large luminous dots at the other positions. Marker luminosity fades rapidly, though, and becomes ineffective after about 20 minutes in the dark. Surrounding the dial is a classic unidirectional timing ring (rotates CCW) calibrated in increments of 10 with 60 click-stops per revolution (most diving watches have 120). The ring presents very legible chrome figures on a blue background. Overall the watch is very easy to read (except in the dark after 20 minutes), even for those with poor close-up vision. The screw-down crown with raised guard ridges to either side provides robust protection for this critical seal and helps... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous timepiece!!!, June 28, 2005
By
J.S. Clements (Ramona, CA United States) - See all my reviews
If the Omega Seamaster is just out of your price range, the Bulova Marine Star will get the job done. It rivals most watches in beauty and dependability. Made specifically for the adventurous diver, this watch has both style and class. This piece of jewelry goes with any outfit, and you will have it for a long time. It can be taken down to 660 feet, which is deeper than many divers will ever go. If you have a slightly limited budget, but you still want to achieve that "Bond look", this is the perfect watch to get you there in style!

looking for the Cheap Casio Men's PAW1500T-7V Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Ultimate Watch

Customer Rating :
List Price : $400.00 Price : $246.00

Amazon.com Product Description

Perfect for rugged adventurers and weekend warriors, the solar-powered Casio Pathfinder men's sport watch is loaded with a digital compass and altimeter/barometer/thermometer--perfect for both mountain trekking and cave spelunking. It also includes tide and moon graphs and moon age data, and is very precise thanks to its atomic timekeeping features. The durable round watch case (measuring 50.5mm/1.98 inches wide) and bracelet are made of titanium, which is nearly 50 percent lighter than steel, but 30 percent stronger. It's also particularly resistant to salt water corrosion, as well as hypo-allergenic--perfect for those with metal allergies.

The altimeter offers 5-meter measurements from -700 to 10,000 meters, and it can store altitude, month, date and time data, provide tendency and differential graphs, track cumulative ascent/descent, and sound an alarm when you reach a specified altitude. The watch also has a digital compass with 16 points of measurement displayed on the dial face. Other environmental and timekeeping features include:

  • Barometer with atmospheric pressure tendency/differential graphics
  • Thermometer
  • World Time: 29 times zones (30 cities), city code display, daylight saving on/off

This multi-band radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from several locations across the globe (the U.S., UK, Germany, and Japan), and it has an auto receive function (up to 6 times per day). 5.0 out of 5 stars Everything Casio Says It Is -- and More!, December 17, 2008

This review is from: Casio Men's PAW1500T-7V Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Ultimate Watch (Watch)
I've owned a lot of great watches over my 30 years of adulthood -- from inexpensive Timexes to my beloved Movado -- but THIS ONE is SOMETHING SPECIAL! Why "special"? Because, simply, it does everything it is advertised to do; and it does well, and with a touch of class!

Casio obviously put a lot of thought into the design of this watch and its features. The digital compass is the snappiest and most accurate I have found in a watch. The altimeter is a gem....accurate to within 5 meters (or about 20 feet). The barometer is quite sensitive and the trend graph on the watch face has proven to be very useful. The thermometer works great and, if kept a short distance from the warming effects of the skin, is very accurate and sensitive. The atomic clock update works like a charm here in Virginia.....takes about 3 minutes for an accurate "fix" each night. The motion sensor that turns on the face light in dark areas when you tilt the watch towards your face is terrific....especially... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Big, Beautiful and Accurate, December 17, 2009

This review is from: Casio Men's PAW1500T-7V Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Ultimate Watch (Watch)
I wasn't really in the market for another watch, but when my son, the Marine, told me he had a Casio G-Shock he loved I, naturally, went to Amazon.com and started looking into what Casio had to offer. I'm old enough to remember when Casio put out its first LCD watches back when the tuning fork Accutron was the cutting edge watch. I've owned several Casios over the years, and those were mostly of the lower end variety I used as scrub time pieces which I discarded like cheap sunglasses. Over the years I got away from the casio watches since they were mostly of the same watch face design with the familiar LCD screen which I grew bored with. BUT during those 'lost' years Casio really made great progress in their watch designs and cutting edge technologies which I discovered only recently to my joy. While looking through all that Casio offered and reading many of the reviews accompanying the different styles I came across this Pathfinder model 3134, and I was almost hooked until I saw that... 3.0 out of 5 stars Loaded w/ features & mediocre accuracy..., August 23, 2008

7 "7" (Planet Earth) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Casio Men's PAW1500T-7V Pathfinder Multi-Band Solar Atomic Ultimate Watch (Watch)
This watch has about all the gimmicks you could want in a watch. Well, perhaps a GPS, heart rate monitor and MP3 player would be nice inclusions... However, it is solar-powered with a generous battery reserve and should never die with normal light exposure. I've never seen my battery level fall below H (high). It has a thermometer, barometer, altimeter, compass, moonphase indicator, tide chart, automatic synchronization with international atomic clock radio broadcasts and the standard multi-function watch stuff like stopwatch, world time, etc.

That's all fine and dandy, but let's face it, this is NOT a precise instrument.

The compass is surprisingly consistent, though I did have to calibrate it away from the factory preset initially. I feel this feature is the watch's strongest feature due to its accuracy and the fact that it could someday save your life. Still, it's not perfect. The compass display only lasts a few seconds, so you can't use it like a real... Read more
